150-175mm strainers

Anyone bought any 6-7" strainers recently ? There seems to be a shortage of the raw product from the Baltic, delivery drivers to deliver them and of course , covid.

Anybody else find that bigger posts seem to rot out faster than a lot of ordinary fence stakes?

what a waste of resources are all these jobs using even hc4 for crap not fit for purpose tanalith chemical .

All them 'pretty ' grant jobs with the grantees rubbing their hands together at the money given out....yeah well no matter how well it is put up, it will all be rotting off in approx. 10 to 15 yrs time .

Thinking anything other than that is no length of time for a big investment ( or waste of someone elses time and money) is just burying you're head in the sand.

Took almost two days to extract a rotted 175mm post that had been concreted in, now have a lovely smooth concrete 'ole to pop a new one in, when I get one. Previous owner has used 175mm posts, all concreted in. Replaced a 15 year old CCB tanalised strainer yesterday, literally just pulled it apart with my hands. grr!

I won't concrete in posts now.
Makes the rot worse than ever.
pack em with crushed concrete etc as a rule -lest they're pointed and driven in, obv

I don't keep much stock about me but I did a little job last week and priced up the materials to replace them £32 6-7" 7ft creo post !!! I'll be a bit more careful where I use them from now on, the general impression I was given is that the creosote post job is about knackered with both the timber and treatment too hard to come by.

When we first introduced the recycled plastic posts they were more than double the price of creosoted softwood...now about 20-30% dearer: a 150mm pointed round, 2.25m, is £48.29. They should last 50+years. We also offer 100mm rounds which are ideal for cattle fencing:
