1594 vr ih 956 classic tractor

I'm not complaining about the test itself, I'm sure it was as fair as could be, but it's just the tone of the whole article, when the results didn't come out the way they were expected. I know myself the 956 has the edge on build quality, they are a lovely going thing, I just don't think john or his tractor deserved the dismissive tone used in the article, It certainly wouldn't encourage me or a lot of people to partake in anything like that in the future. It smacks of a group of kids where one gets the pee taken out of them for the amusment of the rest, just because they're different.

Well I have read the article and it looks to me like the the 1594 was expected to fail miserably, but the test didn't go to plan. What annoys me is the stupid captions with the photos which go out of their way the run the 1594 down, making ridiculous claims like the one about"visibility" and "poor quality dash" they just don't make sense:confused: I'm not a tractor nut in any way, but that was the first ever article in CT that I found offensive ( I know sounds crazy, It's just a magazine article) It was just so Biased. John must feel a right mug for taking part.
And by the way I'm off to look at a nice 2wd 956 for the diet feeder, before someone says I wear DB pants....unless someone knows of a 15 or 1694 in N ireland.
It's put me clean off CT for a long time:(

I have just read the article myself and I agree 100% with what you say, it is quite clear the 'winner' of the test was decided before the test was begun.

I wondered why @John 1594 had kicked up such a fuss over something so trivial, but now i see he has got the shitty end of the stick

as I said before I did not think this test should have gone ahead but I did and 1594 won . was this done to settle an argument if so ct should not have got involved
If you have a look on the irish forum in "classic tractor this month" thread page 10 onwards it was all decided on there, all the points raised in this thread about what could be fair in testing were discussed,it was known from last december that the 1594 probably had a hp advantage,so why even bother?if finding two old tractors that are equal is so difficult they may as well have found a 7810 with an 8340 engine in and let that have a go,

It's going to make it interesting in the future with all the chipping going on now. Rory will have to know all the characteristics of all the differnt chips in use:)

John won't allow this thread to be closed until it is universally acknowledged by all the forum members that the 1594 is a superior tractor to the 956:D

956 here, every day of the week. It's 7 years since my one left but, if I could find a nice example and had the spare cash (not sure which is more liable) I would buy one in a flash again.
