Could anyone tell me how to get plug off pins so that I can remove cable from cultivator frame.
It's off a Stocks applicator.

Wombat's got it in one. Tube style extraction tool, a fairly common way of removing contacts from their plug/socket receptacle. Contacts often look like this, with either one or two little 'wings' on the contact...

I'd get a pair of these terminal extractors for a bit more than a tenner in the toolkit, then you have a variety of tube sizes to suit (and prongs etc) for various connectors...

Got a name for these for me to google? Have just busted an AMP superseal trying to get the pins out, hope it would do these. Have also just bought a set of those 16 pin connectors for an Ez Boom, and suspect there'll be some trial'n'error before it's up and running.

Can I not just bodge it and add a dab of solder?

As @ROBINWORKS says, it's best to have the right crimpers for some of them. I have a couple of sets, iirc £30-40.
But worth it, as some of the pins have a second crimp, that grabs the cable outer sheath, so that any pulling on the wire is also in the outer and not just the wire, also on waterproof ones they can also hold the seal in place, and some of them will not fit in the plug/socket properly if they are not crimped correctly. Nothing to stop a dab of solder for a good contact if you wish;) but good quality waterproof plugs , crimped correctly, shouldn't need it.

Make sure you get the correct crimp pliers for the pins . (warning they are not cheap)

I would!

Feck seen these fancy pliers at £200.

Also be aware/careful what crimp-able contact style you order. There are generally two styles of crimp-able pins and sockets - solid barrel and stamped and formed. The pins and sockets are otherwise the same and will mate the same. I will use Deutsch contacts as an example.

Stamped and formed look like this:

Solid barrel look like this:

A Deutsch crimp tool (HDT-48-100) for a solid barrel type contact is the better part of £300. At least it comes with the crimp locator piece included.

The crimper for solid style Trim Trio connectors, the gold pin as pictured in my first post above, (those bayonet style plugs) is around £450+VAT - thats without the crimp locator, that'll be another £90!!

The Deutsch HDT-48 also does the three sizes. Size 12, 16 & 20. They can be sourced for just over £200 ;)
You can also get a crimp tool for the size 16 contacts for around £45. This one isn't adjustable but works well.
Yes you definitely offer sterling service and great value on Deutsch stuff and very nice LED lights! I had already bought my HDT from over the ditch, about 4-5 years ago, substantially less than what RS, Farnell and co sell them for here.

Like you say the HDTs are adjustable and believe it or not "good value" against similar crimp tools from Astro / Daniels etc which appear to have epic price tags wherever you look.
