Thanks, b

Thanks, but my calf rearing days are over. I'd rather pay a bit more for reared, but not silly money.
I could graze 40 dairy heifers, but at 50p a day, which he's offering It doesn't seem much to me.
£140/week, say 1st May-31st October (6 mths/26 weeks ballpark) for a quick walk through to check they're upright
27 acres summer let-would you get anywhere near £140/acre? (27 acres/27 weeks ish!)

What would you buy to graze 27 acres all summer, then cash in October, that would hopefully make a bob or two.

Cows and calfs calfs into sales fatten kill cows or buy a bull as well run them on if you wanted a bit of risk incalfers would be cheaper as good as anything when you divide the price by two and somethings by 3

My original point was more to do with the fact that these groups of reared calves are advertised on sites like, Sell my livestock , obviously by companies such as Butilar or Blade.
Do they achieve these prices and if so, who buys them at that.
I know they are vaccinated etc, and your getting a bunch, but if you go to weanling sales at markets, you will buy much stronger cattle for that money .

Some cheap broken mouthed ewes with twins

Then pick up some hard farmed 12 month old stirks would be my advice.

Please advise where I can buy these as I could do with a few hundred of each, but the few I see make as much as the really well farmed stock. Finding cattle, particularly, that have not been pushed on a lot of hard feed, so suitable to graze without melting away, is nearly impossible nowadays. Especially when you rule out the TB areas for sourcing then from.
