Please advise where I can buy these as I could do with a few hundred of each, but the few I see make as much as the really well farmed stock. Finding cattle, particularly, that have not been pushed on a lot of hard feed, so suitable to graze without melting away, is nearly impossible nowadays. Especially when you rule out the TB areas for sourcing then from.
You would have to go to several markets at the time you were wanting them over several weeks....there's always a bargain somewhere....you see these people that want grazing cattle then turn up at one sale go nuts then can't make them pay

And be prepared to go home with nothing but you won't buy any bargains unless you're there...

there are cattle about that don't feed from the corn trailer, but I am down with the lepers so no good to you it would seem
I will console myself with the fact our cattle went through the TB test again on thurs with no problem
Do you worry about anything other than TB ?

Hi, the TB thing is a real pain, if we source cattle from the lepers area as you call it, we have extra testing to do in them and foot the bill. I've picked up the odd cattle from the south west and you are never done with odd trace test on odd cattle that have come from areas that have gone down. Last time I had this I had to go look for one black animal running with another 70 odd black animals out at grass 8 miles away from home. They were all suckler bread, just can't be faffed with it.

It's not that I don't like your cattle.

Agreed, and I do, and I regularly come home empty handed. Between now and June I'll live in my local marts sourcing grazing cattle and ewes and lambs. Finding one or two is ok, but in the volume is tricky.

Sat till the end at Carlisle last week for some dairy bred stirks, 6 months each, real rough cattle, small for age, look like they'd only seem silage and not the best sorts. BB and AA unlikely to make premium grade even if they had named sires. All made well over £500. Good look to them I think.
