Is it possible to find a court case from that period and the outcome? My great grandmother took a tinplate works to court and won over access . Could do with the information at the moment.

These should be held in the National Archive and are available online. I expect you will have to pay.
It should be under civil cases
Don't mind paying if I could find the case. Don't know the exact date, I'll go and have a look and let you know.
@multi power any tips on how to narrow my search and would the results have been printed?

Down the left side you will have filters, select the date like 1900 -1940, you can select a newspaper if you know which one was around at that time, I tend not to do this, you can then select a county, and you can also select a place . Then in the middle it asks what you would like to search for, you can put names, places and company names in here. Hope this helps,

There are loads of online subscription services to find legal stuff. I'm not sure if you can get a trial or anything. A friendly legal bod would have access. Lexisnexis or westlaw were my favorite. You only need the same of one party and some patience.

I need to renew my subscription for the newspapers. It's such a brilliant resource. Amazing what got in the press in days gone by that doesn't now.

I found an article about how the council did not want to repair the bridge up the road as "only two people ever use it" !!!

Found a court case in which my great grandmother was taken to court by the ministry of agriculture .
Poor old woman died, just after saying"The case is being taken out of my hands" . No local papers had published it, but was in a few papers from Birmingham North!
