Funny you should say that......

My friend then went on to tell me that I could be right and that he was sat in the pub recently with a group of his friends and that they all shared the same birthday within a very few days of each other, being around September 25th.

I burst out laughing because I'd quickly worked out that they must all have been conceived around Christmas 1976.

It had been raining for 3 months solid by then!

It's like that every September, ask any midwife or look at any school register! Probably includes late August and early October now due to office parties :sneaky:

I'm too young to remember it but wasn't the thing about 76 that 75 had also been very dry and that compounded things ?
Yes 1975 started with a late wettish spring, crops were not good that year, crops for 1976 harvest went in well and harvest started 3 to 5 weeks early, I was on the road with a P reg 1530 in early july before it was supposed to be! Harvest was a doddle and dad even had time for a holiday after, BUT the rain started in last week of sept and autumn drilling was a nightmare and didnt get completed.

Best time to be born, oldest in the school year, makes a big difference at that age to be 6 years and 350 days old rather than 6 years and 2 days old
