I'm not sure I entirely agree with that. Being dragged out of the EU by a self-serving English Nationalist government has strengthened the political case but the financial case still has to be made. Big questions still need to be answered. If an independent Scotland did join the EU (far from certain) then what happens to the border with England? And if we didn't join the EU, then a lot of the reason for leaving our current union has gone.

I think what the Scots need to bear in mind is that the government in Westminster won't always be as arrogant and incompetent as the current lot.
Self serving nationalist and arrogant and incompetent could be said about the Scottish government and as for being dragged out of the EU that could be said of leaving the UK as well .
The reasons the snp wanted to stay in the EU are the same reasons they should stay in the UK, IE free trade open borders free movement etc

I wouldn't worry about a border, it's working fine in NI 🙈🤣

Some have suggested that the referendum should be allowed, provided there were regional ones within Scotland asking if, in the case that a majority of Scotland votes to leave, they would like to remain a part of the UK. After all, that's what the SNP was suggesting regarding Brexit, and only opportunistic hypocrites wouldn't offer the same chance to their own voters... surely?

Anyway, this would be a decision about breaking up the UK as a whole, a single sovereign entity, so it's only right the whole UK should decide on the matter. (y)
goodness, do you want Scotland out

Exactly, this is the crux of the matter. We can't have both now.

there may be some big contracts going for wall building to keep the English out (y)
I'm hoping for a cushy job doing vet checks on incoming stock. Nice portakabin with kettle on the A1 just north of Berwick, nice civil servant wage and conditions. Any Easycare tups heading north will of course be turned back on suspicion of having scab and an alternative supplier suggested :D

It bears repeating that Scotland voted 2-1 against it. If that isn't being dragged out then I don't know what is.
Depends where you draw the line. If scotland votes to become independent I'm sure several regions will be getting "dragged out" of the UK against their will. Orkney and Shetland being 2 of them. Are they entitled to chose their own destiny?
