Deutz 3.6L? i expect. Just doing bits for one in a manitou samething siezed solid! but is a 2015 plate.

New complete engine with ECUs etc £17.5k plus vat (the only engine offering from manitou, no short or long option
(Manitou do not sell crank shaft, conrods, pistons or rings to rebuild and no exchange offering)

Deutz UK Exchange long engine still way too much money and the terms and conditions are quite extensive with extra charges if its not palleted correctly not cleaned, not wrpaed in shrink wrap, not full assembled or bits missing etc etc etc Also got to wait around 5 weeks for germany to build one!

Deutz UK parts come to around the 5k mark plus vat but 5 weeks wait on the crank shaft and no date on the conrods yet

There's a seller on ebay with various new Deutz 3.6 engines for about £5.5k

HOW much????? FFS!
Heard a similar story for a fresh JCB Construction Spec 74.5 hp 535-95 - simple complete engine with ECU's 19.5k plus labour etc - so we are going to see a lot more Young Machines with just 1 major fault but everything else on machine is as new in breakers yards !!!

Steer clear of anything with a Deutz engine by the sound of it!

Deutz are very popular, this is the first time i have had customer with internal engine problems in years and a first for me with the deutz.
The story started about 3 or 4 weeks ago when i sold them a new Turbo. Its now thought the oil pressure light came on when the turbo failed (turbo probably leaking oil for ages unnoticed and not until turbo got bad it got noticed buy which time i expect it had run low on oil?)

Anyway new oil and filter, new turbo and all seemed fine for a few weeks. Then the crank seized solid on the road.

All of the modern higher tier engines are expensive on parts IMO, Perkins on the whole are the cheapest of all by far most of the time.

I have never mentioned using rotaspreader chassis
Last Thursday I was welding some stiffeners underneath lime spreader,
Welding vertical or overhead is not a problem for me
have you been filling up ?

And what's wrong with a Pinky Perky that they used to fit back along?

Nothing much, especially if they use the hyd fan and cooling pack of the deutz engine.

Non of the major manufactures seem to want to use perkins any more, look back over the past 30 years when just about everyone used them. Over the years all the major players have moved on. What we should be asking is why have Perkins not done something about it 🤷‍♂️

On the perkins parts supply they have been a shower of :poop: for the past 12 months now. Brexit and covid have nothing to do with it either, it was all there own doing back in oct last year when they shut for 2 weeks to update there computer ordering system. Before this update they were able to supply parts next day, you could track orders, get stock availability and lead times easy, cancel orders if needed.

NOW since oct last year not been able to do any of the above! there aim is to supply parts that they have in stock within 10 days but it often takes longer and god help you if they don't have stock! I've had 2 basic fuel filters on back order for months now! Had some electric lift pumps on back order for 6 or 7 weeks too and all the while your just left hanging, you cant get a firm date on them and you cant cancel the order!

This situation will get worse yet as Perkins are due to move warehouses from Manchester to somewhere near Heathrow around nov/dec this year i think. So there is no chance of things improving with them till Jan/Feb once the dust has settled.

I always liked perkins. Did what it said on the tin and if it shat itself wasnt gonna be a fortune to fix it
