High pressure over Scandinavia will push freezing cold air across the UK with bitter cold easterly winds. Areas of snow, locally heavy and persistent. While far south and west may see a mix of sleet or snow turning to rain later near the coast. Lines of frequent snow showers will come in from the east to affect central-northern England, giving 5-10cm or locally more into the evening. Driest and brightest near coasts in the west & north-west. High of 2C to 6C, 36/43F

A freezing cold start for all, with strong bitter cold easterly winds for England & Wales. Areas of snow likely to affect the south-west for several hours, locally heavy. This turning to Rain around the coasts. Snow showers elsewhere, but becoming little more fewer later with some sunshine, best in western Scotland. Very low Temperatures which will barely go above freezing in most places, Highs of just 0 to 4C around western coasts. 32/39F
