20 acres of pasture with farm buildings

Just taken over 20 acres of pasture (was arable, Sandy Loam soil) with a few farm buildings and yard. Would like to make this my job but struggling for ideas to Make it a profitable venture. It’s my family’s farm and would like to carry on the tradition so any ideas would be appreciated. Previously they ran a contracting business but that was 15 years ago and since then the pasture has been used for silage/haylage by another farmer.

chances are growing by the day, and only trees i would grow are Christmas trees

I think that would be a mistake. Recently, there was a shortage of birch whips for planting up here. When I was at college (admittedly a long time ago) I was told in forestry lectures that no one ever planted birch as it is a weed, only of use in large sizes and then for veneer. And that's just one species.

The easiest most profitable venture would be for you to rent it out for arable/grazing.

Unless you're fancying a lot of work and go for a lot of polytunnels and do fruit and veg etc

Or even breed fancy poultry

I don't see much of a living to be made from 20ac otherwise
