2002 Valtra A95 Hydraulic Error Codes Help?

Hi all, i'm new here but was put onto you guys from another group. A bit about my story - i bought this 2002 Valtra A95 at salvage auction. It was a bit of a punt but i've been so impressed by the quality of the machine as i've been fixing her up! The previous owner had dropped something from the front end loader on the front of the machine and it rammed the rad into the fan so i recored that and have been working on heaps of other little bits and pieces including getting some salvage panels and repainting etc. I've been using it along the way and really happy, expecially considering it's got 9200 hours on it, it goes really well, the engines strong and drivetrain is good.

(sorry about the quality of the image, it was dark when i was taking the photo...)

Anyway, the problem i'm up to is that there is a hydraulic error code, 31 and 32. i can't share the video but the error light flashes 3, 2, 3, 1. Someone on the other group suggested i clean this connector:

I've cleaned it and no change. I'm assuming then that it's the top link sensor?

There's only one draft sensor on these models and this is it isn't it? How would i test it's working ok? What else could this error code be?

Cheers, alister

I think you’re best bet would be to phone a dealer and ask what the codes meant. Is the linkage working?
Hi, sorry i forgot to post the error code (below), mine are 31 and 32. Around here people avoid dealers as basically only contractors can afford them...

Does the linkage work as it should?
What's it supposed to do? None of the hydraulics work in the cab except the single manual override up/down switch which is what i'm using at the moment. (Sorry, i should have said that but wrongly assumed people would know) On initial start up they work for a split second (i mean less than half a second) until i think the hydraulic computer setup (one circuit board) realises there's a problem and shuts everything down and the error light flashes as stated above. At that point only the manual override works...

I had problems on a valtra that was the linkage position sensor, different codes tho but since yours is flashing codes to parts that don’t exist on your tractor, I wouldn’t rule it out. Only the manual override switch would work for me too. Have you looked at the connections at the draft sensor and position sensor? Could be corroded.

i'm assuming the top link sensor i gave a pic of above is the draft sensor? I don't know where the position sensor is, is it this one?

Is this to do with hydraulic fluid level or pressure?

ok, so i've:
- cleaned all connectors and checked wiring,
- pulled the top-link pin (draft sensor pin), and cleaned it.

It hasn't fixed the issue.

Does anyone know how to test the draft sensor pin? Resistance across wires? Voltage to each wire etc?

Get on eBay and buy one of the workshop manuals, test procedures will be in there

i've tested the voltage on the Draft pin, the service manual says the supply should be 8-12V and the signal should be 5V unladen. I have 9V (within spec) and 350mV (well below spec) respectively. I'm assuming that means i need a new draft pin? Or is it the electronics box it attaches to?

No error codes but our Valtra (8150) was doing the exact same as yours - arms wouldn't work with the auto draft/position dials. Could only use the basic up/down switch...

The sensor in your 2nd pic is the problem. Replace it. Be careful to take note the position of the lock nut as you remove the old one so you can set the new one the same.

I'd better test the position sensor too then? (the second pic) The draft pin is shot based on it's voltages so good idea to test the position sensor while i'm at it... thanks for the heads up!
