MF 7400 questions and answers

If you drive your 7400 in pedal mode in high gear and start from a stationary 200m before a steep hill / about 30% incline with 1000kg on the traction arms, will your tractor then be able to achieve 40-50km per hour in a few 100 meters?
I can not achieve 40-50km per hour in high gear before it flattens out ..... am not sure if this is normal, or are these stepless a little "lazy" on the slopes?
On ordinary roads, it is quickly up to 55km per hour in both power and eco mode.
Should it be able to achieve the same speed on steep slopes regardless of whether pedal or stick mode is used?
Not the easiest question but still trying))
Here I live, there are only 2 MF 7400 series tractors in one large area so there are not many to ask.
Considering a Power box for a little more power, anyone have tried?

The reason for the question of speed up hills is that my 6180turbo / 125hp goes faster up the same hill with the same weight on the drawbars.

the 7480s are a bit lazy on the road
mine has a tuning box on, think she's 180 now but its still lazy on the road but i didnt buy her to be tarmac farming
dont forget the 74 will probably be about 1.5ton heavier than the 6180

pedal or stick mode should still accelerate the same ,just different way to do it

I understand, i expected this, as you say, it is a very different weight/hp ratio.
I am happy with it the way it is but had to ask you if you had the same experience.
I love this old but very nice old tractor, and now when i know how to adjust everything i enjoy every second i use it.

Make sure the rear brakes are adjusted as to the book
Doesnt take too long and well worth it
I used a tune it box in my 7480,put it up 40hp
I would have remapped but it ment taking the ecu off to get it done and didnt fancy that
I did have an issue with 2 injector pipes leaking after but mine is a t3 so common rail and different to a t2

if the rears are out of adjustment then the the front cardan shaft brake does more work and wears out then goes through the transmission
id say 2 hours to do the rear brakes first time if your half handy with spanners and you look at the right page in the manual i sent

Thanks, i have started on the 1300+ pages i belive i am handy )) have build race engines for myself and others, also used them in several contry's (not tractor )) for 20years, was often fastest )) had my own workshop with Dyno...but i am not the best on this modern tractors.....i learning now when i can read myself up.

Hi again, new question for you, there is a temperature sensor in the back left corner of the cabin that shows outdoor temperature, but also sees that there is a similar temperature sensor behind the grill in the front of the tractor, anyone know what it is for?

Do you have climate control?

Any sensors in the cab are a temp sensor and a sunlight sensor and both worh with the climate control
The 1 in front of the rad is a outside temp sensor and the display is on the clock screen
Press the button by the clock to toggle between time and temp

Yes i know all this, but there also is an small sensor between the radiator and the front grille....sorry i not explain good enaught.
If you not know what i mean i can take a photo of it.

That is the sensor for the temperature display in the cab (which is usually inaccurate)

The one behind the front grill is for the engine computer and climate control.

Does the 7400 series have special weaknesses you should be aware of ?
They seem to handle many working hours compared to those with a regular gearbox, while one with a regular gearbox is mostly used up at 7-8000 hours, many of the VT models are still in good condition after 12-14000 hours, is this something you also see?
