Do you remember the old Kit Kat ad ?? You cant plough, you cant drive in a straight line , you dont know what a unit of N is ..... Youll go a long way .........
What is it? The amount of actual nitrogen per/ha?
no need to be a d**kh**d. Ploughing and driving in a straight line are not skills that are needed anymore. I’m more interested in the higher value skills like agronomy and the economics of the business.

Is there any separation on your coulter? I would be happier doing it on the seedhawk with the separation between seed and fert than an opener which band s the seed and fert altogether.

50kg acre of 18- 6- 12 gives 18 units of N acre. 50 Kg of urea is 46 units acre. All depends on the N % . We mostly use 27 % CAN .

Ask an Aussie. They do this all the time. All down the same spout but the rates will probably be lower.
@Farmer Roy @TelesnaAg @CornishTone (I know you’re not Australian)

Depending on drill, ground and fert type.

Disc drill 100kg map fine
Tyne if soil dry and getting seed fert mix when seeding 160kg dap fine, even 200 but must be dry.
If soil wet and limited mixing occuring reduce rates.
Id say 99% of oz crop is sown with fert down the tube with seed, deep banding and side banding does occur.

Half immediately pre drilling. The rest pre or peri emergence. 150 kg/ha N on Planet aiming for 1.85 N. 125 kg/ha N for Laureate 1.65 N both after wheat with a simple cover crop. Direct drilling. It all needs to be on by the start of tillering.

At this time of year, that’s maybe only 10days, do you think it’s worth doing like that? I always just chuck it all on at your second timing-lower total dose though ~100kgs N

This year, one dose would do it. I’m just paranoid that I’ve put too much on a seedbed then risked heavy rain leaching it down before there is root mass to intercept it. 150 kg/ha N is 495 l/ha of my liquid fertilser so quite slow to apply and a big hit on worms etc

So that’s 120 u/a on planet then ?
