Only if you act violent towards a cop
Strange that, six cops on one guy being arrested for unlicenced selling of cigarettes, meanwhile the one strangling him did not let go, according to reports he was in fear of his life! Yeah!!! he should have been made to tell it to the judge but appears cops are above the law, much wrong with some of UK Police but those cases reported from US over here suggest some of the cops with you are out of control as there is no one who will call them to account.

That's certainly not unique to USA. Law enforcement, judiciary, politicians, big business etc. etc. - the list of those closing ranks or opening their wallets to avoid justice is a very big one.

When everyone carries firearms it somewhat alters the dynamic in ways that are difficult for us to appreciate.

You clearly haven't seen the reports of footage of the case to which I refer. 6 cops one unarmed arrestee strangled by officer hanging round his neck whilst collegues knocked chap to the floor.
When on floor officer continued to hold arrestee in stranglehold ignoring his please that he could not breathe. Key issue is that the officers ignored their duty of care to those they are arresting. As I understand it one of the main reasons for the introduction of the concept of Self Defence in UK criminal cases was to protect Police officers from being prosecuted when they assault individuals in the course of their duty. If it is considered reasonable in the circumstances of the case they will quite reasonably not face action. Downside for many Police officers is that where they feel a person was in similar circumstances not acting reasonably they cannot secure a conviction for assault, CPS would not authorise charge. Instead they seek to discourage person from taking legal advice and induce them to accept a caution for affray.

In summary big problems occur where officers think they are above the law and those in a position to do something about it blob out.

Nice to see someone speaking from the heart rather than a press release and great spoksman he is

I think the op is on about the NYPD police who suffocated a guy when arresting him , I did see the video of that also and while i think it was perhaps heavy handed he did resist arrest he was HUGE and would take 4 police to hold him Down .

That's a hell of hat the reporter has in the video above:)

I want it on my table.

From a Canucks viewpoint the guns in America are ridiculous and most of their troubles stem from that. We have guns - we don't have those issues. Our cops have guns - we still don't have those issues. Actually the biggest issues in latest years have been a couple of taser deaths... Apparently we aren't good with technology. Who knew!

If a nation has a view that everyone is out to get them and nobody has good intentions towards them then they're going to assume this is the case all the time and over react on the side of caution. Contrarily if a nation thinks everybody likes them and nobody has a serious issue with them then they're going to be caught unaware by some lunatic at a national monument. No system is perfect however I know which one I'd prefer to live in.

On to the OP - I don't know about your countries but in Canada - or Alberta at least - Agriculture is not a sector that falls under workers compensation. Now if, like the construction guys, we could get workers comp and time off for every little thing, then I'm sure the reported incidence levels would rise drastically :ROFLMAO: But as it stands it doesn't pay to be hurt in agriculture, it only pays to work hard.

These recent cases with "police brutality" have spurred a lot of controversy. Mike Brown would have never been shot if 1. He never strong arm robbed a store. 2. Walked on the side walk. 3 complied with the officer. 4 didn't attack the officer while he was seated in the vehicle. 5 didn't turn around to attack the officer again. Eric Garner. Like I said before. As soon as you pull away from an officers grasp, you are considered resisting arrest. Now for the officer that put the head lock on garner, he lost his job. He has been dealt with. He most likely will never be a police officer ever again, not because he became infamous, but because it goes on his work record. Garner would be alive if he never was selling loose cigarettes, even though that is ridiculous and I would have just let him go with a warning. And if he never resisted. All he had to do was put his hands out in front of him and complied.

Now Tamir Rice. The 12 year old that was shot and killed by police in Cleveland. He was downtown pointing a firearm at people, this is all on video survallence. Someone contacted the police saying there was a black male pointing a gun at people. Naturally the cops show up, but as the car was pulling up to him he actually was dumb enough to point the firearm at the cops before shoving it in his waistband. The cops told him to put his hands up three times. Rice reached for his gun and one officer shot him twice. The catch 22 is that rice had a pellet gun that looked like a .45. However the police didn't know that since the Orange indicator was removed. He would have never died if 1. He obviously didn't point a firearm at people. 2. Listened to the cops.

These three cases come down to one thing. Lack of respect for law enforcement. If you are black and you comply to the man in blue, especially white, you become labeled as untrustworthy. You know the saying snitches are found in ditches? Basically the same thing. If you talk to the police in the hood, your life is at stake. If you are a black man and you side with the police or white society, you become an Uncle Tom.

Before you go spouting how fire arms are the problem here, give this a thought. Most people can get out of serving time for a misdemeanor. Felons can't legally buy guns, but they can pay someone to walk into the store and buy a gun. That happens a lot. So what would happen if the federal government (because obviously Obama is helping to stoke all this tension here) took away firearms from law abiding citizens? A full fledged martial law outbreak. You would have criminals killing and looting. You would have law abiding citizens defending their home from other people including whoever is told to take away the firearms. It would be total chaos. If you don't have a firearm you would be preyed upon.

Ok so why don't the police just leave the black community alone? It would become the Wild West (Chicago already is, it's illegal to own pistols and last time I heard there were 155 firearm related homicides in 2014). Charles Barkley, has just been outed as an Uncle Tom for siding with the police, saying the same thing.

It all comes down to this. Who is profiting here? Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson obviously, lawyers, media. Will this benefit anyone? Only the powers to be. Officers have firearms to protect themselves, not all police districts can afford tasers, and firearms are actually cheaper in some instances Police will lose the right to protect themselves while in diress.
