Drilled 17/8 at 4.5kg/ha elgar.Nothing fancy, it followes spring barley in a continuous cereal rotation, no muck.

i pig tailed the stubble quite deep and vigorously then KKK, roll drill roll. 2.5cwt of 12.20.20+te same day as drilling. It's had 2.5lt/ha mn and 1lt/ha boron with the falcon.

Interestingly the part of the field I drilled with new seed-for next year's fss was much slower to get going and even now you can see to a line where the seed of the heap is. It just makes me even more sure new seed is shite and fss is the way to go with everything.

Seed treatments in a dry time can be a big hindrance to establishment. That may explain some of the difference.

Sprayed a latish drilled field after dark last night. Hallmark, 200ltr/ha, with wetter. Stopped to look for beetles and they were very easily found, though not a plague - perhaps 1 per 10 plants or so. Have just been back to look. Tonight they are not easy to find at all, maybe 1 per 50 or 60 plants. I left a small area unsprayed and here they are just as numerous tonight , 1 per 10 plants again.

Has anyone on here been companion cropping osr this year? Wasn’t this supposed to help with csfb? I think @RTK Farmer has done it in the past but this year I believe he put up a cracking photo of straight osr? Was it all just too expensive.

Its not really the cost, did it last year and it had a good result, had the mustard inn stock ready for this year, but it was just to dry to spread it on top after I'd drilled to OSR.

Hmmm I drill my OSR with the vaddy every other coulter blocked and have been wondering if I could make an mini individual hopper for each coulter so it would work more like a beet drill, using something like an upturned plastic bottle. If I did I could put companion down the gaps. Just need a way to fix the mini hoppers in place.

You'd also be stuck at the same seed rate if you did that

Yes very old and does what it's supposed to do. How do I get around @Adeptandy s comment? :( Saying that I still need to work out my individual supply system first

It might be me being thick, but I assumed you wanted OSR out of every other coulter and CC out of the rest so the shaft would be turning the same speed for both , unless you were thinking a separate unit for the CC and sending it down the unused coulters ?

I've been looking at converting my Freeflow as I can split the hopper quite easily and re pipe for every other then use the other half for CC but I'm still on the same metering shaft so thats why the rate issue on my plan :scratchhead:

The clover in my osr is coming quite nicely now, just a shame about the osr!
Interestingly the field that I first tried clover in osr for harvest 17 was the best yielding bit of wheat that we had this year, out yielding the neighbouring field (same drill date, variety, treatments etc.) By about 0.6t/ha.

Judging by my sprayer window as I pre-em the wheat there is a fresh flight of flea beetle today:(, along with an population explosion of ladybirds:).
