To compare this year with last year year need to use the numbers given by Daniel above. This year 1 year deal is 20.33 I think and the three year is currently 22.50. I think there’s some chance we will get a bonus at the levels quoted too. Maybe not next year but going forward.

Ps I don’t believe hardly anyone has beet looking like those in the photo this year.....
We have some superb beet . And one 9 acre which is shite or half of it is rank flinty sand and has a bcn patch but all looks good , pig muck oil radish oat and just getting all the ducks lined up , some had had 2 inch irrigated , come and have a look just taken these pics , thought it would never come as pushed it out of sight with mulch drill to the moisture. No idea where it’s finding moisture to keep going

Shame really!!?

Those super pictures and your comments, expressed with proud sentiment like a true farmer, have been forwarded to the CEO of ABF; who is having breakfast in his Swiss lodge, and the head of Greenpeace.

Both are really pleased for you.

The ABF CEO as clearly you can manage quite happily on £20 tonne, in fact maybe you could squeeze bit more out in future! And the Greenpeace CEO recuperating in business class on the red eye back to London from New York where he stood in alliance with the teenagers, because he was right all along - you silly farmer did not need that nasty neonciotinoid insecticide after all.

Hey ho, joys.

On a serious point - cracking crop.

How do people push up on beet heeps. saw a video of someone pushing up beet with a grain pusher, anyone on here tried that? how much stress does it put on the pusher? Currently use a beet bucket to push up atm but wondering if a pusher would give us more room and how much reinforcement our pusher would need

Yes. My neighbour does. Be as gentle as possible.

We did when we grew beet. As @Flat 10 says you just need to be as gentle as you can.

We push our heap up with grain pusher for years. Find it easier and quicker than a bucket. As others have said don't try to push too much at once, just grade it up face of heap.
You can also level the top of heap easier to reduce frost pockets if staying longer term
Also damage less beet as you don't run on any and grades soil throughout heap.
Ours is on a concrete pad.

Anybody suffering with bad cercospora? I have lots in one field despite 2x well timed escolta and same variety in other fields not suffering. Should I leave to recover or lift?

Wouldn't say I've got it bad but in one field there is a noticable amount of cercospora in one field particularly.

What variety are you noticing it in @flat10?????

All my beet this year are gaugan and I'm not impressed, no wonder there was loads of that seed about, no bugger with any sense wanted it.

Mine are Gauguin or degas. We both moaned about Gauguin earlier in the year I think

Ah that's right I think I remember us having a moan now. Certainly dont want them again next year.

I had degas the year before, I dont think they had been properly recommended then and they done well. I fact we had 18 loads of them off 13 acres.

I was told never to "push" heaps up but shovel them up. Fill the loader bucket, lift it, without pressuring the face of the heap then pour it out higher up or on top of the heap so the beet are loose not compacted. Telehandler with big bucket can do this very quickly.

Not that I have harvested a root yet. Mine is bad with cercospora and brown rust. Will it affect the roots at all as regards storability? Or will it just reduce yield?
Had an advisory to spray another fungicide but would probably lose the sprayer with row crops on and knock a fair bit of beet about so I am not bothering.
