It's all to play for yet here. We have some pretty forward grass, and some not so forward. It doesn't look like there's much chance of a rush of heat before the end of April to push it on, so I don't see any panic. If we manage to get into decent double figures this time next week, that will make a difference to it. I also have something booked for last weekend in April, so definitely won't be mowing before the 29th here.

The only dates to go off are when you spread fert,if I had the grass and no fert on it I’d be cutting “ make hay while the sun shines”
Don't really worry much about fert dates either, assuming it's sowed when there is little grass and cut when there is a decent crop, the nitrogen will have been used to grow it, often at far more than 2 units/day

Our contractor baled some of his own ground on Thursday, 33 bales off 12 acres, no fert but nothing on it since 3rd cut was taken last September. Can't see that he'll be much further forward, as the weather is cold and the grass will take longer to get going again.

Do you hire our wagon much?
Hired one from m j Robinson a couple of times to help get our long lead done. You be around his area are you?

I've only hired it out to the same person.

Yes Mj is only a few miles away as the crow flies.

I'm just interested to know what moisture his ground has had this year. We've had a dry week too, but I know how much we've had.

31mm at start of april
142 March
68 February
61 January
100 December
132 November
72 October

Apart from March, not a bad winter.
