We are just looking at investing in a wagon, what models do you run, how many acres a year do you harvest ?
We harvest in a normal year around 2,500-3,000 acres total. Keep knives sharp and so long as it's handy going its a great system, long hauls do slow the job which is frustrating in a catchy spell of weather

we will be looking to 100 acres 5x but all within 1/2 mile of the pit, favoured option at the moment is pottinger purely on knowledge and backup of our dealer.

Will have covered 715 acres by the time fourth cut is in, with one poettinger. Have spent a little bit keeping it good as we went along. Regular gear oil changes, lots of grease obviously, relined the brakes this year (which was a big challenge on the eight wheel chassis), changed every hydraulic pipe last year. Not much in the grand scheme of harvesters. Hydraulic motor for the floor is done and will be changed at the end of this season. Body and cribs will need a respray some of these meet few winters. Wish I'd spent as little on the tractor driving it.

I’ll second pottinger relief drive a friends really nice machine to use and straight forward and reliable have run krone alongside to do along drag and actually think krone made a better job of processing grass but the machine isn’t as well built. Good to have someone else to team up with to complete long drags.

If you do get one make sure you religiously clean the knife bank after use, damp grass left there rusts the knife holder pins,I’ve always cleaned and oiled mine after use,but someone I know didn’t and it gets expensive, well not as expensive as a forager.
