the difference between a 4ft round and a 4ft 6in is the 4ft 6 has a volume 25% greater, so if the 4ft bale held 560 kg then a 4ft 6 would be 700 kg, though wether you would call it haylage or silage is a different matter.there is a bigger difference in weight in a bale due to stage of cutting than folks think never mind the moisture content. We weigh everything and last year had 4ft round bales of haylage depending on grass and moisture mostly between 370kg and540kg wetter stuff that I wouldnt call haylage could easily be up towards 700 kg and at 19 bales an acre would be 13.3 t/ acre which is achievable with a short 24hr wilt time

We've done some enormous crops but still only 13 bales per acre. Can't imagine how much grass there would be to get to 19+ bales
I was getting 12-14 with my last contractor in new high output ryegrass leys but since i have changed i cannot get 10/acre. Something wrong with the baler if your getting these massive number of bales to the acre , they need to get a high density baler asap. There was photo on this forum the other day of bales every 80ft in a light looking crop!

I had 62 bales off a 5 acre field yesterday baled with a fusion and they are rock solid. Helps to be mates with the contractors employee who will crank the pressure up!
