2020 Clik and clik extra price

I didn't make that very clear, confused myself rereading it. I ment to say I wouldn't bother looking at clikzin at £120 as @Al R posted (I understand he has to) when crovect is somewhere around half price.
Clikzin spreads through the whole body but crovect only protects what fleece it touches though. I’ve had lambs struck at the beginning of the 6th week of crovect but have been fully protected for the full 8 weeks of clikzin

Out of interest, I've just seen Clik Extra on an Australian supplier's web site. It's the same strength product (65mg) but an 18ml dose gives 29 weeks protection against blowfly strike, with only a 21 day meat withdrawal (still 3 months for shearing). Equivalent of £700 for 20L (so £175 for 5L). Those Ozzie flies must be pansies :censored: , but interesting that price is similar.

As an aside, there is also a 'Zolvix Plus' over there, which is a combination drench with Zolvix and a clear drench. Why isn't Zolvix over here the same, helping to slow the inevitable resistance build up? :scratchhead:

Their company model is to buy up all the other drugs companies with products still under license so they can have a monopoly. They then exploit the market with substantial, aggressive, price increases as the customer has not much alternative.

When they bought Janssen they hiked the price of 5l of Vecoxan from £340ish to £480 over a 12month period (a price it's been at pretty much ever since). They did it with Dectomax, Fasimec, Flukiver, Clik, Clikzin... and God knows what else!
The old companies were not selling these products at a loss!

If you're happy to give Elanco the green light to pull your trousers down, fair enough. But fudge them

@Jerry

My most recent rant about Elanco 🤣 (if you hadn't made the connection between here and Instagram, you have now 👍)

For years we stuck with Crovect as I said Clik was too dear. The year before I got married we crovect everything after shearing and after 3 weeks we were seeing odd lambs blown (it was a bad year). Had too do them all again which brought the price up similar too Clik. Plus I react badly if Crovect touch’s my skin, dysect is the same.
The following year I got married I cliked all the lambs as we sheared so I could go Florida on honeymoon and not worry about blowfly at home. We had not a single strike until 15 weeks post treatment. At which point we autumn dipped everything. We’ve done this for 3 years now and as far as I’m concerned Clik is well worth the money.

Only if you dont value your time / labour and you dont get caught out and lose any to strike . . . . .

Most years 1 spray is enough here anyway, so how's it costing me more?

But not much time/labour to be added if you do them when doing other jobs with them (dosing for example - the gather would be needed anyway)... or if you are solely gathering to spray lambs you can do a hell of a lot very quickly so time/cost is actually minimal

I was just replying to the “3 applications of Crovect is cheaper than 1 of click”. Just saying it may well be for the product, but not in the round.

Just had the bill for 10 bottles of clik. £194 a bottle 😭. Iv done all the lambs now and have done the dry sheep as they where shorn. I usually leave them for a couple of weeks then vetocert (crovect) but do get court out before they are all sold and with them worth so much don’t want to risk it. I’m in a very bad strike area.

Carrs £195 +vat today, won't move even for a quantity, claim price set by headoffice. Local farm supplies company £195 +vat, no discount for quantity either.

The post you quoted was from last year.

Carrs (Brecon) quoted me £183 for Clik Extra a couple of weeks ago, which they would have sent by courier as they no longer have a local depot.

Picked 8 bottles up from Wynnstay today at £185 as planning to get one mob done tomorrow and nearly run out of last year’s.
