They already do. It's the same engine in a transit. Odd ones fall by the wayside, but a lot of Transits rack up big milage, loaded to the gunnals, often towing, whilst driven by uncaring Neanderthals.
Those modern transit tdci 2.2’s are total garbage! Cracked pistons, oil pumps that don’t last, stretched timing chains/slipped camshafts,crap injectors’ the only good diesel engine Ford have made & fitted in a tranny that could exceed 200k untouched was the old 2.5DI. Those engines would literally run for ever plus stand neglect/abuse,however it wouldn’t be producing anywhere near the power of today’s common rail’s to be fair. It’s just a shame the vans it was fitted in crumbled like old bake bean tins left in a salt bunker
