know where there is a 4 wd one and converted to continental webs too❤️
I have a machine here with no tractor unit that’s all complete otherwise, minus rod links. Thought about converting it to hydrostatic transmission and hydraulic conveyor drives using a unit out of a Bateman Hi Lo and using continental webs. Put a decent cab on it.
A pipe dream of course. Always too much farming to do.
Something similar is available from Italy. Price about £70k last time I looked.

You'd buy a 6row Matrot M41 sp for under 5 grand but need someone to run alongside with a trailer

Think I’ll just keep it at shoestring hobby level. It’s the only way we ever made a profit. I was looking at pricing of concrete pads etc. Megabucks now. Would make the job easier but we can manage with what we’ve got, as ever.

Has anybody returned their contract offer ?
This Saturday is the deadline for any future linked contracts. A week later for multi and one year contracts.
Personally I'm just going with some on 1year and remainder is in multi year but not extending.
With grain prices and growing costs being high I can't see the one year price dropping below £27/t for the following year therefore don't think the £25/t multi year extension is of interest.

Does anybody understand the future linked contracts and know what price / t beet would currently be ?
What are others doing?
Newark is still having break downs. No return loads yesterday and some beet is already being diverted to Wissington. Annoying as perfect lifting conditions but not so ideal to be left long in a clamp.

Getting increasingly repetitive emails asking to fill in the contract.....are they getting concerned that not enough been returned?

Same here. Not done mine yet, thinking of taking a planned field out as I’ll be over quota this year so if I fall short next year so be it!
Put field in with spring barley instead. Less hassle , cheaper growing costs and hopefully prices will remain good.

meanwhile there's a rational in new farmers guide for sale ... doc
I saw it. But no, I have decided to opt for a simpler life. Concentrating on combinables and parking up the beet harvesting kit.
16 acres of spring barley instead. Will take no time at all and much less hassle.
Cyclone is having last laugh till the end. Hydraulic filter doing its regular blocking up trick in the DB780 power unit and now starting to slow the hydraulics down quite seriously. Will have to drain transmission oil and fit new filter or risk knackering the pump a few acres from the end. The old oil is going back in though after passing through a pair of the Mrs's old tights. I never have managed to get all the water oil/emulsion out of the system so every two years the filter blocks. Every previous time I have put new oil in, but it never thanks me, hence the old stuff will be reused especially at todays prices.
So that's the end of 70 years beet growing here, not that our 500 tons will make much difference. We are right on the edge of the catchment area as well so no great loss either way. Next year South of France from October to March.
