So I’ve decided to buy a new 20’ rake and Kuhn is best value I’ve come across plus it’s only 8’2” wide on the road which is big bonus as lots of narrow roads around here most people running mchale or sip around here so I’m wondering if Kuhn are ok

Does the kuhn rotor height still be adjusted from underneath?
I'd favour the krone 640 myself
No , it has a handle for winding it up and down, I had two Kuhn rakes , the 6501 was better than the 7501 , the 6501 worked great until about 5000 acres then it broke can bear ing crank arms and its can track, a few hours work and a lot of money to fix it, so traded it for the 7501 and it started breaking cam tracks and bearing crank arms with not a lot of work done, it was a rake I never liked as it always missed bits of grass , so I traded it in for a pottinger 762c, and that’s problem solved , different league of a rake, does far better work and can go faster while doing perfect work, the Kuhn would not be anywhere near as good a rake.

It’s a 6501 I’m buying last rake I had was 13years ago it was a 20’ pottinger great little rake when it was working!! Had two 10’ pottinger mowers at the time aswell and will definitely be staying away from that brand!! Would like a mchale as I’m only 10min from factory but they way more expensive

The new pottinger rakes are a fantastic machine , the older small pottinger were a very light rake , look at a 762 , they are a differant league. As I said the Kuhn has a design fault that keeks breaking the cam bearings , there a pile of rubbish compared to the pottinger. When I started using the pottinger it was only then I realised how much better the pottinger is. The front wheel is great on uneven ground.

Any pottinger machine I’ve owned were piles of sh1t and mad dear to repair compares to other makes so definitely won’t ever consider anything from them again.

And the pottinger wagons and power harrows are great machines , every brand have made poor models over the years , but I can guarantee if you put a Kuhn rake working beside a pottinger , the pottinger will last far longer and that’s from experience , I know of pottinger rakes with over 20,000 acres worked, a Kuhn will have cost a fortune and will never see 20,000 acres, I’d look at sip, they are well made with a strong cam track system.

We have had the same kuhn double rake it's 11 years old hasn't missed a beat, I would buy another tomorrow. Can't fault it, been steadily driven replaced one HYD pipe and new tines all round a few times that's it.

Found pottinger far better than krone and Lely they replaced.

When we looked at a kuhn machine there was a lot kept at the back of the yard for "spares".

Price up tines, arms, cams and race for cost comparison.
