235 welgar v 355 claas

Looking at these two balers, 235, 8grand from Townend, did 200 bales yesterday, abit tired looking, 355 rc 7 grand probably 6500 would get it both 2008, claas in Scotland on a farm it looks cleaner. What's the verdict on them. No vat on claas either.

I know nothing of the class but I’ve had 2 welger 235’s and they were both bloody good Baler’s , very reliable and make good solid, well shaped bales, with net right to the edge

35000 bales. Is that alot.
It should be fine provided it has been looked after,

you have had a 250 so you should know your way round a 355 as they are more or less the same idea just built much stronger, mine is a 1000 rpm PTO machine and is slightly faster driven than the 540 rpm 255's I had but I am not sure if they were all 1000 rpm,
The pickup is different and better than the 250 was

Maybe half way through what its capable of but will be needing chains, bearings, perhaps sprockets if had a hard life and not been gone through yet.Why would you want another claas after your previous experience. No brainer, buy the Welger.
a 250 and 355 are very different machines in terms of reliability, having had both

I have a 354 and it's been great but a welger 235 would have a better reputation with contractors. Finding one with low bale count will be the biggest problem

Iv just phoned a guy how's going to bale the last 25 acre for me with a mchale when l get it cut, so that will give me abit time to think, l do fancy the welgar, are they hard to work or is it all automatic.

Very simple, and even as a dairyman I manage to do all our silage with one, main thing is to remove all the panels and double check greeze is reaching all the bearings once a year, simple oil reserve and greeze nipple banks.
