24m Mounted Spayer options

We currently spray 300 acres of cerials with a 12m hardi on a NH t6010 (13.6 38 tyres) but would like to make the leap to 24 meters.

I'm not sure if the smaller tractor would cope with the extra weight especially in the wet but we also have a NH T6040 but no row crops yet.

I've been looking at the lighter Landquip sprayers wondering if I could use the smaller tractor/tyres instead of buying rowcrops. Also I don't like the idea of big heavy sprayers in the wet.
Main drawback is the gullwing tree catcher booms in transport.

Most other brands that I have looked at have the rear fold booms that are smart but seem to add a fair bit of weight:
Vicon Ixter would be my first choice, look a well thought out strong sprayer but don't see many about, especially not for sale second hand.
Hardi again (not sure about boom strength) but parts are easy to get.
Amazone Good reviews on here but complicated booms?
Berthound seem a good option

Budget could stretch to a new machine but does 300 acres justify it?
I am fed up of washing out cans so a can wash is a must!

If you intend to keep the sprayer a while then 300 acres will easily justify a new one, not least because when you buy secondhand someone else has already had the best out of it and it won't be that much cheaper anyway. If you can stretch to it I'd suggest getting one that can do auto section too, I am amazed sometimes at how early/late I would have turned on/off in comparison.

Vicon is a cracking little sprayer. If you can go to the GPS section control and the teejet will control it. It will be an ISO sprayer as well and if you change your fertiliser spreader you will then use sane control box and gps for it.

There is some good offers from Vicon currently.

Where are you located

We're in Norfolk, not sure about local vicon dealers but Landquip are very close. A £25k+ new sprayer would be really nice but there must be good quality second hand options too or are they few and far between?
My old Hardi was picked up at a local sale for £600 and has done thousands of acres for me without trouble.
I guess the larger more complicated sprayers have much more to go wrong....
Am I over worrying about the weight?
The old 800l hardi is 600kg and I have been known to make a rut or two.
Landquip is under 1000kg
Hardi master 24 1200kg
Ixter 1500kg empty! (as much as my little sprayer full!)

-chris- I went from 12 m to 18 m many years ago now, worried that 24 was 'too big', spray 363 acres several times a year, the increase in work rate was amazing, don't deny yourself a new sprayer if the monies right, you won't regret it, you could get sprayed up before wet weather sets in !
I like gull wing to minimise the bends for rubber pipe.

I wondered about 18m because of a few smaller fields we have but like the idea of getting rid of even more tramlines with 24m. Would also be able to get a high clearance machine in if needed on the rape/beans.

We are 21m here on 320ac, works well and our high cleanance contractor with 24m bateman can spray at 21m which sorts us out on the osr spraying. Thinking about going liquid fert now which may push me towards 24m with an upgrade of sprayer. 2 machines I will always buy new are the sprayer and fert spreader, there is a lot of money going through them and you need to know they are right

Pity you cant get the NH Hardi (I'm guessing what you have) with 24M boom option, but the Master look a nice sprayer. We like Hardi, but they are not cheap to buy or repair. You would think that plastic they use, was gold dust.

Go for 24m if you fancy -chris- , I was only trying to illustrate the work rate increase and possibly, regret not going for 24 meter in my own work.

got a 24 meter knight gull wing spraying 300 acres of own cereals + contract work run it on a mx135 with front tank as weight is a issue on some of our steeper ground as full weighs 3 tonne. got some 54 in row crop wheels to increase ground clearance for spraying osr. would like to put it on 1 of our newer new hollands but booms wont fit round cab

Are the newholland cabs wider than others? Next door can't raise their landquip very high due to the gullwings meeting the cab.
+1
Ours on tm120 boss will prob go for a new t60 series better warn him to measure up first (n)

the cabs on our power command new hollands are 12 in wider than the case mx spoke to local dealer about it and he suggested putting the roof of low profile cab on because its narrower. another problem could be opening the doors. probably use mx for as long as we can and then buy a sprayer with booms that fold up behind sprayer like the amazone
