Why do they want it ducting ,,my landlord put 400 mtr straight into a mtr deep trench and that was the electric boards idea
We have kind of got the option of that or a load of sand. But we can lay ducting as we go and get it done at our leisure ready for them to draw cable through, also I think we will make alot more mess trying to get sand back fill done.
I will ask the question if we don't need it but I think now we pointed out that we don't want all the poles across the farm they are being sensible and the costs should be reduced. Fingers crossed.

My LL didnt bother with sand ,,just dug trench up the edge of a track ,cable in and back filled,,lecky board wasnt bothered about sand or marker tape as it was so deep and it wasnt interfeering with anything else ,,bloke came in with a back hoe and was filling it in as the cable went in

Did similar about 15 months ago, was not asked to smooth with sand or place cables in ducting, although we did duct in our yard, not the field.
Depth was 1.2m deep, and used an AFT trencher on hire at far quicker speed than our 360 could, and a neater job

Looks to be doing a nice job Andrew. Tonight we have agreed a price with western power. They have stipulated either ducting or sand as it's on stony ground . and tbh the amount of sand works out as a similar b cost to their ducting. Thanks for reply though but case closed now.
