A collision has occurred on a busy bridge in South Derbyshire involving three cars and a John Deere tractor.
The incident occurred at around 10:00am this morning (June 11).
The cars involved a BMW 218i, a Ford Focus and a Ford Focus ST – collided with a John Deere tractor on Swarkestone Bridge.
The road was closed for about and hour while the Focus ST was recovered from the scene.
Police confirmed that no injuries were sustained by anyone involved in the collision.
A spokesman for Derbyshire Constabulary said: “The force was called at 10am to reports of a four-vehicle collision on the Swarkestone Bridge.
“The road was closed in order to allow the recovery of the Ford Focus [not the ST] and was reopened just after 11:00am. There were no injuries.”
Agriculture Has The Worst Rate Of Worker Fatal Injury
Figures published in the Health and Safety Executive’s report “Fatal injuries in agriculture, forestry and fishing in Great Britain 2019/20” show 21 people were killed as a result of farming and other agriculture-related activities during the year.
Transport – overturning vehicles or being struck by moving vehicles – caused most deaths.
Agriculture has the worst rate of worker fatal injury (per 100,000) of the main industrial sectors. It is eighteen times as high as the average rate across all industries.
Around half of the agricultural workers killed were 55 years or older.
The youngest person killed was a 4-year-old child.
