Anyone else heard anything about George Eustice refusing to lift the 3 crop rule. The man wants to look about ,the countryside is a mess.Flooding everywhere. If EA attitude and this goverment is to flood farmland to save peoples houses we need a bit of give and take in return.I would not wish the terrible situation on anyone’s home but Boris get a grip on reality this is happening now.How the hell can you decide what to grow let alone find 3 crops to grow.Time to talk over facts to people on the ground not pen pushers. We need the plug holes clearing get the rivers doing their job.

We have got three different types of seeds lingering in the shed - with no prospect of any of it being sowed for months. Do you think this should count? Personally, I don't expect this Government to be capable of making a reasonable and rational decision in our favour.

Think you mean, "I don't expect this Government to be capable of making a reasonable and rational decision....."

It's going to take years to undo the EU portfolio of silly rules. Be patient. Farming unions should have put their foot down when this nonsense was first introduced really.

Well Georgy baby was able to in 2018 and that was when UK was a member of the EU. Its not the EU its the Conservative and Brexit Party. Some of you will have to move on soon and not blame the EU for everything - thought we 'took back control' Best wishes, hop it dries at some stage.

Wet weather derogation for the Basic Payment Scheme 2018
George Eustice, Minister of State, has announced a relaxation (derogation) of the crop diversification rules following the recent wet weather.

What we could do with is a union of farmers to put pressure on Eustice at say a conference for their paid up members?

Should those that dont pay get the benefit??

Perhaps fallow is what they want. Wouldn’t have to compensate if it got flooded. Crop prices rise due to lower supply. Don’t need to pay subs as crops now profitable. Bit simplified but some logic there.

we really could do with that

pitty we only have the nfu instead though, if nothing else they have proven track record of failure here or this thread wouldn’t even need to have been started would it !

as for the representing none paying farmers comment, you can’t have it both ways ! ie you can not claim to represent farmers (like is often heard) but then choose to only represent members !

Be interested to know which, if any, lobbying organisations do you belong to?
If not why not? Do you reply to government consultations yourself?

i belong to none which is no different to belonging to an ineffective one ...... i’m just a bit better off for the saved membership fee ........ but do miss out on the lovely beef dinner at the AGM i guess !

I do have regular direct context with my MP, Defra and many others that can and do make a difference however

I have recently been invited by David Kennedy to interview him asking questions set by TFF members, to be filmed in Westminster ...... i will start a thread tomorrow where TFF members (no membership fee required) can suggest the questions they would like me to ask him and make any points they would like me to make

your idea that joining the nfu is the only way anyone can make a difference is unbelievably naive

i certainly don’t do nothing, i just choose to do it differently

So you are saying that the NFU is completely ineffective for your business.
So if the NFU get a derogation through lobbying for the 3 crop rule that is ineffective?
So you get a chance to ask question to David Kennedy, NFU members had the same chance at conference, if they wish to view the full session on NFU20: Beyond the CAP - the future of farm support
Its available on the NFU member website.

Some people haven't got the time or inclination to be writing to mps, defra or the like, I actually do both, they invest their money into organisations to speak on their behalf.
I dont disagree they are complex and sometimes structured in a challenging way BUT we would NOT have had a badger cull without the NFU.

On topic with the 3 crop rule I have asked through the NFU for a hedgerow trimming derogation. To extend the period to allow hedges to be trimmed.
Doubtful as its versus the birds nesting but we haven't been able to get near any of ours this year!
