3 phase Chinese Generators

Hi all

Looking at buying a 3 phase diesel engine generator. Seen these generators for sale on the internet. Brand new unused for very little money compared to other makes.

Anyone any experience with these generators?

It will be used to run a Lely robot if there is a power failure. Likely only 3 or 4 times a year at most

Not sure of your budget or power needed but I would stay away if I were you, you could try ex mod suppliers they have some good stuff. I have a Kipor generator 8 years old now and has been a great wee genny used a fair bit too.

They are made in china but good stuff they took honda tech and coppied it so its japina made

I got a 165kva for a drier came from Nixon power washers pretty sure it’s a Chinese copy
5seasons apart from servicing never been a problem done 700 hours

You pay your money and take your chances.

These type of units can be as reliable as something made by one of the more recognised brands or they can be a complete waste of your hard earned.

What I have found is that the "copy" units are rarely capable of providing the power that they say they do.

Yes its hard to know if it's worth chancing the Chinese one or not. I know off a Perkins 45kva ex police station with little hours but it's £5300 which is out off budget to be honest.

What's people's thoughts on a PTO generator?

What's people's thoughts on a PTO generator?

Depends on your loading, if the tractors got more power than the generator needs you can burn them out quite easily, if you've more than one tractor you've no problem not being able to start it, with an engine driven if not looked after you can be sure when you need it the battery will be flat or the fuel has diesel bug in the tank.

Others will know more about this than me but does consideration need to be given to the quality of the power coming out of the generator? Might be less of an issue when running old sturdy workshop equipment but something that may need a second look if the robot has sensitive electronics?

Try Ashvale engineering very competitive. Bought a 50kva Genny off them. Brand new 6k +vat all made in house. Perkins engine not China copy can't remember the motor but again fairly decent.
