3 phase connection cost

Hi all , has anyone got ideas on 3 phase connection cost , single phase at the mo and is about 5 poles to the 3 phase line ,
Thanks

I got a quote recently for NIE to connect up a new shed 400m from the nearest 3 phase pole.

Approximate cost they gave was £28,000.

We own a the ground to the pole so going to run a 70mm cable under ground to it myself at a cost of £6500.

They haven't give my me a separate cost for the transformer and connection but I'm surely going to be saving money.

We were quoted £180,000, had to come about quarter mile. What's this about electric storage heaters, been posted on here that if you fit them the electric board has to connect you up to 3 phase free of charge cos it's Eco friendly?

well the old pole had a 30plus year old transformer on it, most of the blokes doing the work not seen one like it! Been tipping beet round it for years......... As for the trenching,we were gonna do it as told an extra cost but......week before due to start told not to. Digger digging trench on our land for new cable for them. Anything go wrong they(electric board) liable.. So they found the extra funding to trench it.took them 2weeks to trench 180mtrs!!:wideyed::eek: 2blokes and 2diggers!

We were 10 k to replace low voltage overheads with underground for our turbines. 250 m. They never did anything with the transformer tho.

We did the trench and backfill.

There are other licence contractors I believe not just your local supply co.

What's the reason for getting 3 phase? We've got it here and i just use it to run a few machines in the workshop. Should i be making more use of it?
i could be wrong but I believe they only charge you for electricity used across 2 phases so balancing your power usage across all 3 phases should save you a third of your electricity bill.

This is with Northern Ireland Electricity so could differ across the water
