we've been doing it 2.5 years and still doing it. If you can get your cows milked and back to feed and cubicles in less than an hour it will work well. The key is getting good staff to fill that rota and in order to try and maintain some consistency.

Will need higher energy in ration .. Hfrs will need to be dryed off sooner for longer recovery .. You'll get your higher output but will need to feed for it. .. Udder health will improve .. a bit .. Good luck. .. jtt.

With processors offering 5pence/ltr to producers who produce more milk now than they did last year how long before the flood gates open again.already hearing people who are starting to push the cake. Keep the processors short price will soon jump when they haven't got enough milk

But that's no new thing. They've offered that on Autumn milk to help balance the spring flush. I agree it's a risky game to play though

were at 33 now but we calves majority of our herd from sept to feb so our average DIM is getting about a month of its peak. We will prob drop do 31 but usually peak around 39. Make sure there feet are right, you need all your ducks in a row before you start. We routine trim pre drying off and at 60 DIM. We were sick of the amount of milk on beds etc. If you can get reliable night milkers the winter routine is a hell of a lot better, were done for 4 30 in the afternoon if we want to be, no excuses for being late to any do's on a night now!

With more milk do u accept lower fat and protein percentages , relying on total yield going up to increase total yield of kg's of fat and protein or is it possible to feed extra to keep percentages up and if so would it stack up to do so ?

So what time do you do the milkings?
