I'm about 100 yards away from being a neighbour.
Heard back in February all staff to be made redundant after harvest , it was a surprise, I thought the manager ran a tight ship with much less Labour and machinery than 10 years ago. Assumed they already had Velcourt lined up who are nearby at Cornbury park. In fact its been contracted out in 2 lots. Main part of estate to big farmer/landowner who bought 2 farms nearby last year with rollover money. Outlying part to large contract farmer. Both very good farmers, maybe they won't have the conflicts between crops, shooting, tenants, forestry etc that the manager had to contend with, on the other hand maybe they will...... either way it'll be interesting !
