35X Brakes - Rubber linings?

Having replaced the brake shoes in one of my 35s I find them to be very ineffective. I have cleaned and freed up everything and there are no oil leaks into the drums.

I think the problem is the absestos free linings which are too hard for old style brakes and I see QTP offer a rubber brake lining which is softer. Has anyone tried these?

I had a 35 here last year needing the brakes looked at amongst other things. Decided to try a little adjustment first before taking the drums off. Adjusted both sides up til the wheels locked and let off enough that the wheels would just turn free and no more. Drove off and stood on both pedals and both wheels locked nicely. Did the same again and no brakes whatsoever. Took drums off and the shoes were completely stripped. Rubber linings....totally in bits,and I wouldn't have said the rubber was overly hard with age. Never seen rubber linings before and certainly wouldn't be fitting them.
I have fitted standard linings regularly and they take time to bed in,especially on old drums,or you could go to a clutch and brake relining company that should be able to supply a softer friction material.....but not rubber!

Thank you, I did wonder if they would be suitable on a tractor that gets a lot of use, perhaps ok on a te20 used lightly.

I used to ask motor factors to reline them with something soft but even the soft stuff seems too hard now. Current linings are from MF but seem too hard.
