360 Excavator auxiliary hydraulic service

I have a 2007 Case 13 tonner which I would like to run a screening bucket with. Currently my machine has no hammer line or auxiliary lines. It's an older machine, not really worth spending 2k + time to add a proper hammer service. My idea is to fit a 3/4" electric 6 port diverter in the space behind the boom, infront of the main spool block. Taking the feed from one of track motor services. Switch diverter on and the one tracking pedal becomes the auxiliary service pedal. Switch off and tracks run as normal....... Will this work?

It would but by adding a restriction you’ll make that side track slower (?)
Yea that could be an issue indeed. Everything would be staying 3/4" so hopefully wouldn't slow it too much. I'm not sure if a 3/4" diverter valve will still flow the same rate as a straight 3/4" hose though. On another thought, one side tracks slightly faster than the other already.... Put the valve on the faster one and maybe she'll go in a straight line 😉

Also would it work a hammer this way? I don't plan on getting a hammer for it but I'd maybe hire one for the odd job if I could run it on this machine

You could do what my old Ackerman does - have a electronic switchable valve fitted to the bucket tilt ram, which gives you a extra double acting auxiliary circuit without having to run pipes from the main valve chest area. I use mine for my shear grab - tilt ram active for manoeuvring into position, flick the switch to activate the open and close function for cutting and dumping. You aren't going to need to tilt the screener bucket at the same time as running it, so it shouldn't cause a problem.

Running pipes up the boom not a problem, pipe crimper in the workshop here. Be nice to be able to still have all the boom services live, might need to give bucket a shake while screening sticky material and you'd only need to flick the switch when you need to reposition the machine

We have a screening bucket here and yes your right you've got to give them a shake while working.

Don’t see why not; again it would be another flow-hungry operation. Hydraulic suppliers should be able to advise if there would be any restriction in the diverter; if you could reach it might be less restricting to have a 2x manual 2 way taps then you could go to 1” relatively cheaply.

I might need to find out how much flow I'd get from a track service. Likely need a workshop manual for the machine to find out. Thinking about it a bit more, it may be that each track service is restricted to half of total pump capacity. When you track one side on its own then both together they don't both suddenly slow down. If they were given full pump capacity each individual track would turn twice the speed on their own as when both tracking together. The spec for a 3/4 port diverter valve states 'up to 120l/min' Total pump capacity will 200-250 I'd have thought. Screen bucket says it needs 80-150l/min to work

I wouldn't be interfering with the tracks to try and get a feed. It's only a flow you need return cab just be piped straight to tank (either through a filter or so it goes through return filter on machine). Personally I'd be finding someone local who is clued up on hydraulics and seeing if you can add a dedicated service in for aux line. Either that or change digger.

What is it you want to screen? You can rig some basic stuff up depending what your doing.
My efforts on a small scale 😁

This is what you want, designed for a 13 ton machine as well, I still have the CAD drawings for it

Ah yes that's quite the set up there indeed 👍

I'm wanting to screen fines out of diggings from shed foundations and from rock just dug up from the ground to make roads with. A couple of thousand ton of clean rock wouldn't go a miss around here
