Currently running said wheel equipment on a 14 t trailer, which seems fine on the road and probably the cheapest option but I've been wondering what I could replace the tyres with on same rims alternatively what to look at to replace with for field work. Plenty of room to go wider, it's on 8 stud rims

445/65r22.5 should fit on and give a compromise between a good roading tyre and a flotation. 560/45r22.5 would be the choice for floats or 560/60r22.5 if there’s room. Both 560s would need wider rims tho.

The 445 as mentioned above is certainly an option but hardly worth the hassle changing to, whereas changing fron 385 to 560 floatations is literally like day and night expensive but really huge improvement in floatation and easier to pull by miles

We are at ailage just now, between rain showers, and the ground is soft in bits.
We have a Marshall QM 11 on 385/65/22.5 super singles and a 14 ton Marston on 560/45/22.5 BKT flotation tyres.
The difference in the field is amazing. The one on floatations loaded to the max is making less marks than the Marshall half full. Never really got the flotation hype before but seeing the difference myself in the same field Im sold now.
Go for that if your funds and work can justify it.

Just check the axles are man enough, big soft floats grip a lot more and give the wheel bearings some stick when turning.

8 studs agri axles won’t really hack a lot of work with a set of flotations, the axles and rocker beam or spring hangers will be twisting when turning on hard surfaces leading to serious increase in wear. Even 10 stud agri square axle setups struggle, only the proper round commercial HGV type can handle floats all day every day unfortunately.

You could go for something like 500/60R22.5. Just remember if you buy a less common tyre size, you may struggle to get a replacement in a hurry of the worst happens.
Make sure the trailer doesn’t exceed 2.55m total width when you’re finished either.
Personally, put the trailer in a collective sale with a good reserve on it. Someone will pay way too much for it and you can buy one thats right for big tyres.

I've only just bought it!!! Good solid all round trailer I think the only weakness are the tyres. Didn't realise how much until I silaged

I know slightly off topic but I used to do a lot of beet, 8t in a trailer running 385/65/22.5’s would make ruts everywhere, 20t in a trailer running 560/45/22.5 wouldn’t leave a mark and could drill straight in if hadn’t had super sinkers running around aswell..

When 300hp can’t pull 8t across a field yet 150hp pulls 20t with ease they soon get a bad reputation!

I wouldn't bother with the 445 idea, they're expensive and not very common anymore, I know of a trailer that went from a SS to a 500 and that was a good compromise, just do a bit of homework on them first as this particular set needed new rims as well as tyres when he needed replacement tyres as the professional tyre fitter couldn't get them off the rim! I think they were bandenmarkt but I cant be 100% sure. Rising sun trailer hire used to buy all their trailers on 500s not so many years ago iirc
