3m trailered mower conditioner

I’ve had a few mowers over the years. Started doing our own with a JF three drum trailed then went onto a Vicon KMT, good mower but a bit weak for the ground we have and couldn’t get through the conditioner with the heavy crops we have. I stumbled upon a Kuhn 303 YGL that must have mown 500 acre in all its life, owned by an old boy who really looked after it and I just couldn’t turn it down. Absolutely amazing mower for the bits I do with it. Well worth a look if your not after new

I shopped about last autumn for quotes on rear mowers. Got quotes for both mounted and trailed equivalents.

Pottinger 3.2 rear mounted roughly £15k
Pottinger 3.2 Centre pull trailed £25k

With a few extras it's roughly £10k difference. As much as I love my trailed mowers I can't see myself buying another when a mounted is so much cheaper.
what models is the 3.2m? thought they only did 10ft or 11ft4
my 10ft mounted was 10500 few years back, side pull was 18000 at that time iirc. i went for the mounted as had problems getting trail mowers in and out of my fields
the previous samasz was 1500 brand new, so even though it was scrap after 6 seasons it still only cost 50p/acre

Yeh my bad , I meant model number 302, not 3.2 🤦‍♂️

I like trailed mowers, and they suit me being able to run a smaller tractor on it. It's just a right pain trying to squeeze trailed mowers between parked cars, down narrow lanes etc. Its just handier to have a mounted one now. I've kept a JD 1360 trailed though, as it had a new bed 3 years ago, just for old times sake!

It was a demo the mf rep put it on YouTube I wouldn’t know how! The 7720 on the trailer is my usual forager tractor the 8s was great for that job I really liked it and it had plenty of poke but it was 25hp more than ours. Only trouble is it was physically massive I’m not sure how it would fit our job

Same wheelbase aren't they?

Wev bought a 1365. Others may think theyr just old hat but iv mowed with a few different mowers and by far my favourite is a 1365. One thing i will say is mowin with a side mount its easier to judge to shave the dyke but the rest of the field i prefer a trailed
I think our 1365 cuts aswell or better than alot of more modern mowers that have cut the same field.

I've said it before they seem to be a marmite mower.

I personally think they are a great machine. Built strong, parts are easy to come by and not a bad machine to maintain.

People have said on here before about the the tyres being narrow. I've never had a problem and have some very wet land to cut, including some marshand. If people are worried about the mower wheel marks then surely the baler/forager/trailers that follow are of far more concern.

Good solid mowers. look after them and they will happily cut for many years.
