Out my arse. More like standing in the open doorway on the way out, letting in the wind and rain. Make your mind up UK. Fudge to fudge out, or sign where Barnier tells you .... any day now I guess...

It's like a divorce, in fact it is a divorce. The decree absolute came in on 31/1/20 and now the 2 parties have to learn to live on the same street, can't tow uk over the Atlantic.
On eureferendum, Dr North says;

'To get the right answer, three hurdles must be surmounted, and it is by no means clear that Johnson could straddle any of them.
The first thing he has to do is work out for himself what he actually wants from the EU.
He must define it in terms that the EU would be prepared (or likely) to accept.
He must then buy into the sorts of conditions that the EU will demand.
Not just one, but all three numbers must click, before the lock opens, and we haven't even got past key stage one.'

Those of you who have been through a divorce will know that the effects mostly carry on for decades'

The Brexit maxim was from the outset, that there would be a quick and easy deal. As Liam Fox famously said, “the easiest deal in history”! With Farage et al, repeating ad nauseum “they need us more than we need them”, the plebs bought into it.

It should be a very simple trade deal. Why they want to bring in freedom of movement or the European court or any of that bilge is beyond me. No wonder the government is already conducting other trade talks with interested parties, I would too.

Seriously, why the fudge does the EU want freedom of movement or any other rot to continue? It's a trade deal, not the fudging USSR being negotiated. Agree what goods/services will be included, agree what is and isn't allowed in terms of state aid or non-tariff barriers, agree what regulations will need to be met and the job is a good un. But nope, the EU can't do a straight forward trade deal because they have no clue what trade is actually about, they are more interested in their common currency, protectionism and little political project.

Why on earth should it be a simple trade deal!? The UK is positioned a few kilometres adjacent to the EU 27. Several leading UK politicians of Brexit tendency have spoke openly of making UK a tax free etc etc location for competition with the EU 27. This is going to affect EU27 members for decades to some. SImple trade deal only in the eyes of delusioned Brexiters. Time yet to see who blinks first, who bluffs, who takes the hard position. Hey ho.

You have just highlighted one reason. It's a few kilometres away? Both parties have already been supplying goods and services to the same agreed standards? Both parties have industries with established supply chains working in both directions?
