40 finalists have been shortlisted for the National Federation of Young Farmers’ Clubs’ (NFYFC) 2024 YFC Achiever Awards.

Stars of ITV programme ‘Fletchers Family Farm’ will help present the awards at the ceremony on November 2, 2024, at the National Conference Centre in Birmingham.

The 40 finalists have been shortlisted for their achievements in rural communities after being interviewed by the judges in eight different categories.

The young farmers awards aim to recognise and reward the dedication and commitment shown by young people (and those who assist YFC) who are supporting the British countryside.

Shortlisted finalists include YFC members from Brecknock, Carmarthenshire, Cambridgeshire, Ceredigion, Cumbria, Clwyd, Cornwall, East Riding of Yorkshire, Glamorgan, Hampshire, Isle of Man, Kent, Leicestershire, Norfolk, Notts, Northumberland, Oxfordshire, Pembrokeshire, Shropshire, Somerset, Staffordshire, and Yorkshire.

NFYFC president John Lee said the finalists showed what could be achieved by being part of a Young Farmers’ Club.

“I feel immense pride to be involved in the YFC Achiever Awards 2024, especially after meeting some of the finalists and seeing the contribution they are making to our organisation and the skills they have gained by being part of it,” he said.

“The awards are a wonderful way for NFYFC to celebrate the amount of time and energy people give to YFC to keep our clubs active and supported.

“Our finalists demonstrate the true spirit of YFC, and I am looking forward to celebrating their achievements with them at the ceremony in November. Congratulations to everyone and good luck.”

Lee helped to judge the Heart of YFC Award, but the finalists from this category must also face a public vote.

Scores from the public vote, which closes on September 1, 2024, are combined with the judges’ weighting to decide an overall winner.

Rhian Hughes from Carmarthenshire, Ceridwen Edwards from Clwyd, Jack Saunders from Oxfordshire, David Harvey from Northumberland and David Long from Norfolk will be vying for votes over the next few weeks.
