Description

Bury Court is a conveniently located Estate, situated in Hampshire, close to the Surrey border. The Estate occupies an unspoilt position nestled in rolling countryside whilst maintaining excellent communication links. At the heart of the Estate is an attractive principal house, with internationally renowned gardens, a beautiful listed barn which is operated as a successful events and wedding venue, and a further range of converted historic buildings. Two self-contained flats, six further houses and cottages and four offices providing further income. The Estate extends to 464 acres (187.9 hectares) of predominantly arable farmland interlocked with pasture and woodland, some of which is ancient. The topography lends itself to a family shoot and until recently one has been run in conjunction with neighbouring landowners.

The history of The Bury Court Estate spans many centuries, with records going back to at least the 1200's. On 17th Century maps Bury Court is depicted as a place of importance when it was a demesne farm belonging to the Bishops of Winchester, from which time its landholdings remain largely unchanged. Until the 1980's, Bury Court was a productive hop farm. The house is situated on the side of a dry river valley, through which a winterbourne rivulet, tributary of the river Wey, runs.
