Have got a outlying farm I would like to put a cctv camera up for security. There is livestock and machinery in sheds and it's right next to the road. So would like to keep an eye on things remotely. There is power from the sheds.

What would you recommend?

How far is your wifi?
I put a tp link kit on my house that can send the wifi 15KM!!!!! If you have line of sight of course. Sent it to my grainstore for an RTK mast, also fitted an elcheapo PTZ wifi security camera. Bloody brilliant.,

How did you find it 15km away!? Did you mount it externally?

My office has a tp link wi fi router and is direct line of sight from where I plan to mount camera. Its obviously within a building in office. Distance is 1.6km.

Mine is only 60m.

But if set appropriately it will do 15 km.
I had it come preconfigured so was plug and play following the instructions.

I have BT broadband into the house.
BT router.
Then a tp link wifi plug in extender in my conservatory, plug the point to point into the ethernet port on that, point it at the grainstore.
A POE injector powers the grainstore end, and have my old Vfast router in there to provide wifi, I had to put an extender at the far end to give wifi for the camera.

Sounds complicated, but actually is really simple, and I have something like 15-20mbps broadband in there now.

You need wireless bridge kit. With clear line of sight it can go many k. Explain your situation to the boys at Solwise and they will advise on suitable kit (other companies are available )

4g, sends to your phone.

have one setup on one site as does a neighbour, working well.

Already have calving cameras in sheds from them. Good setup but not a fan of company.

They want to tie you in to monthly maintenance contracts. If you don't they try and charge you £20 for 5 minute phone call.
