4G unlimited sims

the fixed line telecom network used to be advertised as unlimited until you read the small print which said a 40gb per month was the upper limit, altho now it is genuinely unlimited, with the kids streaming films games etc you can get 150gb month easily.

Makes you wonder if by the time all properties have access to fibre, everyone will once again be switching to wireless broadband via 4G/5G.

Lad that works here got the 3 sim. Speed started off at 40 but in early evening down to 2.
Found the speed varied so much it was unusable.
Spoke to support @£1.50 min. Lots of woffle but no satisfaction
Cancelled it

I've relied on a Three router for years....quite happy with them. speed does vary from 3meg to 12meg but still liveable.

Mobile broadband, or phone SIM?

Mobile broadband in a Draytek router with an external antenna.

We get a better signal with EE but couldn't get unlimited data with EE for a reasonable sum, so are sacrificing a little speed for a much better price.

been running the Three unlimited mifi data for 3 months now. the only issue I've found is it comes annoyingly slow if too many devices are connected. For that reason I am running 2 routers, one for the house, and one for work. Otherwise it's been great. Kids are playing xbox games, wife is buying stuff on amazon and the definition in the forearm of my right arm is akin to Arnold Swatzanager in the 1980's.

Brother in-law has 3 mobile broadband router and external antenn at £23 month getting solid 60mg in his new house loves it it helps the mast is 4600 meters away BT where going to charge him a fortune to get land line in as he was the only house on the road he talked to his nearest neighbour where the line wood be coming from he was only getting 2 mg

4.6km? How far away are most masts? I assumed most were about a 5-7 mile distance.

It's not just distance to the mast though. Closer doesn't always automatically = faster connection. But it does help :)

It also depends on how busy/congested the mast is and what sort of connection it has to the rest of the network (backhaul).

For example If its a recently updated mast, with nice fat fibre link, with a few users then happy days. If on the other hand it's a temporary mast, say at the local county show with a microwave link, with 10,000 people trying to use it, it will be so dog slow its not worth using almost.

So it's all a bit....ahem variable.
