Currently run a 3m Amazone super power harrow and drill combination but looking to move to a 4m setup. Probably either a Kuhn, Lemken or Amazone. All heavy duty models (260hp tractor) with a rear tank. Is there much difference in their weights? Thanks

Yes , big difference in weight and pulling it .

I've changed my tractor from a 180/200hp on 650 tyres which was only just enough for my 3m Amazone drill, to a 260hp tractor on 710 tyres which has prompted the idea of going up to a 4m setup. Is there much difference in the weights of the different makes?

Won't be too much between them to be honest we've a Kuhn but any of the good disc drills are bloody heavy. The heaviest being the Horsch in my experience of demo drills .

We run ours on a 7930 with 710 and a 520 dual alongside and it makes a good job turning on ploughed headland I wouldn't want just 710 they would need ripped up again before drilling without the duals on

Sure a 4metre combination will weigh 33% more than a 3metre version
nick...
Drill part will only be a bit more length of coulter bar and a few more spouts. Power Harrow is close to tractor so extra weight isn’t that noticeable.

we’ve a 4m combi on a 165HP new Holland and front press handles it all well.

Your tractor is big enough to cope with anything 4m on the market. Stop fretting. ;)

A 4m Lemken Hydraulic fold is about 2.8t ish by the time you add in pre em markers, harrows and markers etc if not 3t then when full of seed which can get 1.3t ish in plus mud as never using a combi in good going, needs all the lift of a 724 and puma 240 and can need towards 1.8t on front to balance them out safely. So run a Lemken 900mm front press which knocks out at 2.5t and is perfect outfit especially on 900’s tyres and well balanced press does finish it off very well!

4 metre wide Combination drills can vary in weight a lot! Depending on several factors:
How heavier duty the Power harrow is.
Where the hopper is situated. The further forward it is, the less stress it places on the 3 point linkage.
What type of coulter system is used. Suffolk coulters are the lightest. Discs are heavier. Kuhn System-disc is very heavy!
