France banned glyphosate from garden centres/supermarkets. Right or wrong? Can’t say I have an opinion but have declined the invitation to sell to ex pats🤔
Rightly banned from the general public. We have to do our PA1, PA2, untrained people should not be able to use it.
If we mess up we'll get the book thrown at us and the general public will be the first to point the finger.

yes probably. But they mess up on 20 square yards, we can muck up on many ha🤔
But hopefully we are by and large spraying leaves, not tarmac and gravel😂

Do not these two qoutes encompass the situation entirely. And the solution. And that the French government could make its own decision irrespective of being part of EU. UK could do the same - doubt the UK government will. Probably blame so non existent issue with an EU equivalence trade deal - need to keep hiding behind the skirts of EU or the truth will be up.

But dont you have one with glyphosate?
Every country has issues and problems, the biggest ones are the politicians at least we have removed one layer, we now need to sort our home grown ones.
We will find Carrie, the Goldsmiths,Dimbleby, etc are much worse......................and none of them are elected. No matter what happens, the French and Germans will always support their farmers more.

Adding about glyphosate - my wife is something of a hippy and is very anti, so a couple of weeks back, she was dead chuffed to announce Germany were stopping use from (I think) the end of 2023. But Austria did before but I’m sure they went back on it.
You see,
Despite what the U.K. nationalists think, we are ruled by OUR governments, not the EU.
The sad thing is, all this was largly caused by numerous U.K. officials ...
Hiding and lying
Discusting really😕
No, you are 'allowed' to do it; if you don't know this, you really don't understand either the constitution or the jurisprudence of your beloved EU. :woot:

While I agree that legislation should only be made by the elected, you can't criticise the above while supporting the existence of the EC - not without being a hypocrite.

@czechmate is your boss's 'hippyness' a bit selective now and then, or entirely consistent all the time?

Entirely consistent but accepting temporary realities🤔
Best example being a hatred of sending fit and healthy animals to their death to feed humans we don’t even like but an acceptance of our current reality🙄
It’s difficult to the extreme ...

And I never got her to accept the delights of “Gong”😂 ... bloody hell, maybe it’s me😬

I’m always more interested in the realities on the ground than theoretical possibilities ...
Current eg, it is Macron forcing me into taking a vaccine I neither need or want, not UVDL

What on earth has what i wrote got anything to do with the EC,either Commission or Council :scratchhead:

I am sorry, you need to be more specific... what am I suspected of having with glyphosate ?
Our price did rise a bit (like yours but less) and my agronomist did drop me off 11 bidons just on Thursday 🤷‍♂️

mind, the weather has been quite bitchy this year and I was pondering paying the extra for roundup max (rain fast in 30 mins) - is that what you were asking?

And, this year, if I didn’t buy any, the french government would bung me some cash, but nothing like enough to be of interest ; circa 1.5k 🤷‍♂️
I thought there was talk of it being banned entirely, perhaps not yet then to be honest im not in favour of pre harvest use, have some monster spring oats that could do with it, so far I'm resisting as dont want the losses through the tramlines.

Yet the germans are banning glyphosate in the next couple of years, if that happens and no new total herbicide that's direct drilling finished on on heavy land

Ah, well, there you have it. There is a new contact total herbicide 👍
I think more of an annual burn off than killing perennial roots but ticks most boxes I suppose

i hâte pre harvest use. I did patches of my spring barley (it’s been an incredible wet year here) and now wish I had totally sprayed. Neighbours who have done none - well, I just can’t see how they are going to harvest the crops😕

Is there ? I've not heard anything definite of course it suits the makers to have a nice new expensive chemical to sell . To be honest if we get winters like the last two cereal.growing for me might be finished anyway, a few more industrial units and longer in the alps, not such a bad thing

this year has definitely been too difficult for me. Certainly changes in the air

You're a similar age to me I think that does have a effect on attitude, we gave a flat in Bournemouth and with a bad back issue it looks tempting to let the step son take over, would have to give up if he wasn't keen, his driving the combine I'm taking it easy carting. He wont want to cut the flat oats though 😆

Im talking about their overall Agricultural policy, not single issues. They will always be more supportive, and have a different mindset towards food production.Their land ownership is also much more spread and diverse than the UK.

My old man was a reluctant farmer wanted to be a cricketer but the war and his father got in the way, he always had interests outside of the farm, whereas my ex father in law had none and was a miserable bugger, only took a holiday when he could go on a farm tour etc, spent two days a week being the life and soul at market then came home and gave everybody a bollocking, I love the farm but have lots of reasons to enjoy other things, like you finding a better match second time round helps
