On my way home from a tractor run today I got overtaken by a mf 230, it left me for dead, he must have been doing 50 k
What could or would have been done to make it so fast?
It definitely didn't have 12 X 28 back wheels

I know of a 135 fitted with a 165mp box. It is very fast because the 135 hasn't got the final drive reductions
Didn't they just run the box faster on a 65, 165 etc to make it cope with the extra power wasn't it just higher geared on the input side ?

Straw dealer down here has a MF/IMT hybrid....think its an industrial 236 engine bolted to a 165 MP back end with a 148 rear axle

what ever it is, it bloody flies!!!! He usually has it on a straw turner at harvest time

Was it JV,s tractor run at Crymych? Well advertised by local radio and well supported for local charities. Failed to go this year as J Deere had something on!

Yes that's it, I thought it was lacking in advertising / publishity, I just happened to see a sign in Crymych (I hardly ever go anywhere to see and adverts and hardly ever listen to radio)

Don't know why everyone raves about having a 50k gearbox when you hear the speed some off these wee tractors can do. Brothers 3000 is on 13.6x28 and we clocked it at 27mph, so I'd say she'd do around 30 if she had 32s on the back
