I have traded in a 50hx with the brakes gone ,the farmer says it uses fluid every couple of days ,he said it's the right hand pedal that goes first ,I'm wondering where do I start ,my thinking is the master cylinder first but I have little experience of these machines ,

What oil has he been topping up with? Don’t they use 300 series type rear axles? Slave cylinder will be externally accessible IIRC?

Start by looking for an obvious leak. Master cylinder will have an external leak to use fluid and so will the brake pipes. Slave can leak into rear axle unfortunately.

Dan the man had one of those for years , I’d say he will know where to start.

Later 300 series had internal master cylinders but easy to do about 2hrs job. Bracket that has the brake rod coming trough it comes out with cylinder attached to back. I use a second bleeder screw into the pipe port on it to air lock it enough to not fall apart when refitti g. Simple enough job

Early has external one but I never worked at them however if it was that u would clearly see fluid in the ground surely

I had a think about this after I posted and remembered we have some 4200 series axles as rigs and the slaves etc can be fitted with trumpet in place.
