5130 case maxxum

Hey I have a 5130 case maxxum tractor and when you put it in gear sometimes it will not engage when you release the clutch and then you mess around with it it will start working again. When it doesn't engage you can put it in a different gear and still won't work then you mess around with it then it will work again, when it doesn't work nothing will happen then when it does work it works good just wondering if anyone else has had the same problem or how to fix it or if it needs a new solinoid or what?

Thanks

I am assuming its powershift? If it is, the system relies on hydraulic pressure to hold it in gear.

The usual problem is one of a collection of 4 solenoids and 4 sensors under the right hand step, one of each for each powershift gear. The solenoid opens to let oil through and the sensors checks that it's getting there.

Does it do it in only one powershift speed or randomly? Randomly might be something else.

Power shift or manual wont drive with what I said above

Never owned a manual one but assumed they didn't have powershift solenoids. I was going to mention the clutch switches next. They play up on both of my Maxxums, though one has never had the top switch connected up. Then I was going to move onto count the flashes etc assuming the dash light works.........

Your talking about the left side power shift light😉
The right hand light is the drive light common on both

If I remember correctly there is a panel to right of steering column in cab.Remove that, you will see 4 relays. Make sure they are inserted properly, as they can work loose. Very rarely one of them can be faulty, but your problem sounds like an easy fix.

Had similar problems with a 5140 once. It was the switches under the shuttle lever. Also had similar problems on a mx135 but that was the springs had broke under the shuttle lever so farmer fixed it with a bungey strap between the lever and the clutch pedal.

The powershift works fine it's the four main gear sometimes doesn't work but when it does work it works good it's like when you take it out of gear to go do something or shut it off for a little then come back and put it in gear it won't move. Then you mess around with it or whatever then it will start working again.
