590 pickup hitch draw bar

Hello, so I have an old massey 590 with a draw bar only. Bought a second hand pick up hitch not thinking about the baler. Can you run a draw bar on the pick up hitch instead of the hook? Is it a case of making one?

Pin pops out of hook and put drawbar in. I’ve got a drawbar for an mf 590 PUH spare if you need one

So that is what is already on the tractor but won't fit the pickup hitch that I bought. I'll post some pics tomorrow

We had to cut ours down with the 9 inch grinder to make it fit the puh….

it needed to be narrower where the pin goes through it so we chopped half an inch off each side …

At the front of the hitch there should be 2 pins either side of the drawbar, lift them out and move them to a wider hole then slide drawbar into position.

Could you have bought a 600 series hitch ?

A 600 series one will fit the tractor, but different in hook and drawbar department. Some 600 series tractors went back to the 500 series hitches for better clearance.

Years of various experience on here, some of it is getting a bit cloudy and fuzzy though as the time passes

That's the 600 series ,the 500 drawbar won't fit it.

No you won't, the hook is the main part ,,you only need a clevis that fits over it with a pin
