I doubt it, lorries are designed to run at that weight all day every day.

Lorries may be designed to run at that weight all day but the problem with a 7.5 ton lorry is the low payload you just can't carry enough
That and they are useless for anything else. Drop the trailer off and you have a full speed pickup again with only one vehicle to tax, test and insure. No need for inspections or your heavy goods, either.

One of the IW DP trailers looks as if it was designed to have a goose neck bolted on.
the standard drawbar is just riveted on.. The big problem is the electric brakes, Which although safe enough for use in America are tooo dangerous for UK

I think you'll need a defender to take the weight though @smcapstick ;)

When I looked before the weight would have been 4.5t they seem to be a very good idea, but you lose most of your rear deck so no good for me.

Bateson used to have a photo of a livestock one on their website, but I can't find it now.

Next to no space is taken in the bed with a ball and socket coupling, so plenty of room for straps, woods etc.

I agree, 7.5 tonners aren't much cop unless you have use for one but to run a pick up and 5th wheel combo to replace one would I imagine be even more costly.

I wish I'd taken some pics of the stand as they had a Hilux and a Defender 110 crew cab both with 5th wheel fitted. The towing gear also pins on to mountings so can be quickly removed when not towing, or on the other side, quickly installed when required.

7.5 tonners are plentiful and cheap as much as i would love a multipurpose vehicle it very rarely works out viable jack of all trades master of none springs to mind the cost of buying one against a 7.5t is going to be the biggest pill to swallow then the payloads are not going to be that different running costs the same
for caravans its great but haulage no other wise the roads would be full of them

where do people keep getting poor payloads from on 7.5t with the right chassis and body you can get a 4t payload quite easily

even with a trailer you are going to have the same legal issues as with a 7.5t truck

i have category c1+e on my licence
Category C1+E
You can drive C1 category vehicles with a trailer over 750kg, but the trailer - when fully loaded - can’t weigh more than the vehicle.

The combined weight of both can’t exceed 12,000kg.
so i can have a 7.5 tonner and trailer towing the same weight?

Piffle! No HGV ticket, no O license, no 13 week checks, no 56mph limiter.

I'm assuming you have never been to Canada? There must be hundreds of thousand pickups with fifth wheel trailers

Saw one a few weeks ago in the States with a 3 axle trailer behind it with 40 4ft by 5ft bales of hay on it , but it was a twin wheeled pick with a 9lts power max cummins motor in it , about the 350hp mark
I would dearly love to have a pickup with a 'real' engine.

The problem is, they're all American and having an American pickup in Britain proves you have a tiny, tiny little penis. They're so vulgar, too. The other option is to engine-swap... but only people that rummage through bins do that.
