'60 IH B275 not running. Just bought

B275 diesel. Has a 12v battery. I just bought this from guy who did conversion. I think his wiring not all switched from pos to neg. I bypassed switches to solenoid on starter to see what it's doing. It is turning engine counter clockwise standing by starter looking at tractor. Is this correct turning direction or what needs to be done or checked?

Another way to look at it is,if you were sitting in the seat, looking forward, the fan should be turning anti clockwise.Or if you stand at the front looking towards the nose cone, the fan should be turning clockwise. The starter will turn the same direction no matter whether it's connected positive or negative earth.

Makes no difference to anything other than dynamo if it’s positive or negative earth. Diesel engine can’t run wrong way around anyhow, only a two stroke petrol can. It’s turning the correct way.

These indirect engines in the Bradford tractors will not start without heater plugs functioning. If it’s in original plugs they wired in series through a pepper pot resistor to drop the voltage down as each glow plug is 1.5 ish volts. If you bypass the resistor on the dash you will blow a plug. With the plugs wired in series one blown plug will break the circuit.

Have you cracked an injector pipe to see if your injector pump is injecting? If it is then you need to look at the heater plugs and setup. Being a 1960 it will be a rotary injector pump and not an inline yes? If it is injecting fuel you can remove intake pipe from the nanifold and stick a heat gun or blow lamp in as you crank it to see if it attempts to start.

There are 12v car type glow plugs that you can buy for them now and wire in parallell, they will become instant starters then.

Thanks, injector fuel fine. Will check glow.
